Details: A video was produced to support the cover story that shows the operations of two strike drones.

The first drone struck the minibus in which Kapustin was supposedly travelling, while the second drone filmed the supposed "aftermath of the strike" – the vehicle engulfed in flames.

Quote: "The Russian secret service members who ordered the crime believed the video and paid the Ukrainian intelligence officers US$500,000 for the 'contract', which will significantly strengthen the combat capabilities of DIU's special units."

Background:

  • On 27 December, the Russian Volunteer Corps reported that its commander, Denis "WhiteRex" Kapustin, had been killed in action on the Zaporizhzhia front.
  • On 1 January, DIU stated that the reports of Kapustin's death had been part of a special operation and that Kapustin is alive.
