Details: Mike Lee said that he spoke to Rubio by phone.
Quote: "He informed me that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by US personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States, and that the kinetic action we saw tonight was deployed to protect and defend those executing the arrest warrant."
More details: Lee said that the operation likely falls under the president's Article II powers under the US Constitution to protect American citizens from actual or imminent attack.
He added that Rubio said he does not expect further US action in Venezuela because Maduro is now in US custody.
Earlier, Lee questioned whether anything could justify a military operation against Venezuela.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump did not answer a New York Times question on whether Congress had authorised the operation in Venezuela.
