Russian forces launch 61 attack drones at Ukraine overnight; 8 hit targets

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with 61 attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) since the evening of 5 January, including with Shahed and Gerbera drones as well as other types. A total of 53 drones have been downed, but there were also strikes.

Quote: "As of 08:30, air defence units have shot down or jammed 53 enemy Shahed and Gerbera UAVs, as well as drones of other types, over Ukraine's north, centre and east. Strikes by eight attack UAVs were recorded at six locations."
Details: The Russians reportedly launched the drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Millerovo, Kursk and Oryol, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk. About 40 of the drones were Shahed attack UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by Ukrainian aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces.
