Ukrainian defence company presents new loitering munition with X-shaped wing
Ukrainian company Venator Technologies has presented a new loitering munition, Flycat, equipped with an autonomous terminal guidance system.

Details: Flycat's distinctive feature is said to be its X-shaped wing, which enables manoeuvring on all axes. This allows the drone to hit not only static but also moving targets even during the final stage of the attack.
Most conventional fixed-wing drones, as it is noted, have one pair of wings, so they manoeuvre more slowly. If a target, for example a lorry or a tank, makes a sharp turn to the side, such a drone may simply fly past because it will not have time to change course.
The developers focused not only on flight and technical characteristics but also on an effective terminal guidance system.
"The drone is capable of independently tracking the target at the final stage of flight even in a complex electronic warfare environment. This makes it possible to significantly increase the probability of hitting the target," Venator Technologies said.
Flycat has a flight range of more than 45 km and is equipped with a modular warhead weighing from 2.5 to 3.7 kg, which can be of high-explosive fragmentation, shaped-charge, thermobaric or combined.
The drone's maximum attack speed reaches 150 km/h. The aircraft does not depend on satellite navigation, which increases its resistance to electronic warfare.
Flycat is launched from a pneumatic catapult and deployment of the system takes about 20 minutes.
Background: Venator Technologies previously presented Flycat at the AUSA 2025 exhibition in the US, likely in a different configuration.
