"The DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace has served as an additional channel to enhance capabilities. Through this platform, military units have ordered and received more than 7,000 tactical interceptor drones, enabling them to meet urgent needs quickly without waiting for centralised deliveries," Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

Interceptor drones are now a critically important element of a multi-layered air defence system. They make it possible to:

  • preserve costly air defence missile stocks by deploying cheaper engagement options
  • increase the density of counter-drone defence without overloading air defence systems
  • provide frontline forces with effective solutions to protect personnel, equipment and logistics.

Background:

  • Earlier, Shmyhal said that in December 2025, the Defence Procurement Agency was delivering an average of nearly 950 interceptor drones per day to the military. He added that procuring anti-Shahed UAVs is a key priority for 2026.
  • At the end of 2025, Shmyhal said troops would now be able to select and receive assets quickly to counter Russian Shahed drones. Interceptors are available through the Army of Drones Bonus programme. They are supplied via DOT-Chain Defence, an ecosystem that brings together verified suppliers, the military and the procurement agency into a single digital model.
