President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may visit the United States next week to meet with his counterpart Donald Trump, or alternatively, meet him in Davos.

Details: Ukrainian officials said there is a possibility that Zelenskyy could travel to the US next week to meet with Trump and finalise an agreement on security guarantees.

Another option is for the two leaders to meet during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Background:
- Earlier on 8 January, Zelenskyy stated that following talks in Paris with the US, the document on security guarantees for Ukraine is "essentially ready" to be finalised with Trump.
- On 7 January, the Ukrainian delegation held meetings with the US team in Paris.
- The Ukrainian team also held consultations with national security advisers from France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland and Türkiye, with participation from the US, NATO, the European Commission and the European Council.
- On 6 January, a Coalition of the Willing meeting took place in Paris with Zelenskyy attending in person. After the meeting, the president said that responses had been received on many aspects of European guarantees, including the deployment of a deterrent contingent.
