Iraqi government to create commission for preventing recruitment of its citizens into Russian army

The Iraqi government is creating a special commission to investigate and stop the recruitment of Iraqi youth to take part in the war against Ukraine.

Details: At a meeting with Dmytro Usov, secretary of the Coordination Headquarters, Kazem stressed among other things that Baghdad is "concerned" about Iraqi citizens being drawn into the ranks of the Russian military.

The Iraqi government hopes that creating a commission that will operate in coordination with Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council will prevent recruitment.

Iraqi diplomats also confirmed the state's firm position on neutrality and non-interference in the internal affairs of any other country, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq."
