Details: When asked about recent comments by European leaders calling for the resumption of dialogue with Moscow, Zelenskyy said he does not oppose Europe entering into negotiations with Russia – provided that Putin understands the seriousness of such talks.
"I'm not against Europe talking to Russia, especially now, when US pressure is there and Europe has begun to speak about security guarantees," he said.
"We are moving towards the final stage, even if we don't yet know what it will look like," the Ukrainian president added.
Background:
- In December, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe must find a way to engage directly with the Russian leader.
- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed with Macron.
