Details: G7 leaders want to obtain Trump's personal support for security guarantees for Ukraine once a ceasefire is in place.

Officials are negotiating the details of the meeting, which is expected to take place on 21 January and may also include other leaders from the Coalition of the Willing. According to officials, national security advisers from the coalition are also planning to hold a separate meeting.

One European official involved in the pre-Davos talks told the Financial Times that without US approval it would be impossible to implement the deployment of multinational forces previously promised to Ukraine by the UK and France.

"It is still unclear what Trump really feels," they said.

Background: Zelenskyy and Trump are both expected to travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos next week, where they are expected to meet and finalise an agreement on Ukraine's "prosperity".
