Ukrainian air defence downs one ballistic missile and 89 drones, attack rages on

Russian forces have launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 113 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones since the evening of 13 January. Ukrainian air defence has managed to intercept one missile and 89 drones, but some aerial assets have reached their targets. The attack is ongoing.

Quote: "As of 08:00, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed one ballistic missile and 89 enemy Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones in the country's east and north. Hits by 2 ballistic missiles and 24 UAVs had been recorded at 13 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at 3 locations."

Details: The Air Force emphasised that the Russian attack is ongoing, with several Russian drones still in Ukrainian airspace.

The missiles were launched from Russia's Rostov and Voronezh oblasts, while drones came from the Russian cities of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as Cape Chauda and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. Around 70 of the UAVs were Shahed drones.

"Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack," the Air Force concluded.
