Trump: Ukraine less ready to strike peace deal than Putin

US President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, rather than Russian leader Vladimir Putin, is slowing down a potential peace deal.

Quote: "I think he [Putin] is ready to make a deal. I think Ukraine is less ready to make a deal."

Details: Trump claimed in the interview that Putin is ready to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine, while Zelenskyy, in the US president's view, has been more cautious.

When asked by journalists why US-led talks have so far failed to resolve the largest conflict in Europe since World War II, Trump replied: "Zelenskyy."

Trump also did not rule out meeting the Ukrainian president at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Quote: "I would – if he's there. I'm going to be there."

Background: Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are planning to visit Moscow in the near future for a meeting with Putin.
