Russia strikes Chornomorsk port with missile, damages Maltese-flagged vessel
Russian forces have launched a ballistic missile strike on a berth at the port of Chornomorsk, where a civilian vessel flying the Maltese flag was docked.
Source: Oleksii Kuleba, Minister for Communities and Territories Development
Details: Kuleba said that one crew member has been injured and is currently receiving the necessary medical assistance.
"The vessel was preparing to transport containerised cargo. Three containers were damaged and an oil spill occurred as a result of the strike. A boom barrier is being installed to contain the aftermath," the minister said.
Kuleba stressed that this was yet another act of Russian terror against civilian port infrastructure, international trade, and maritime safety.
Background: Over the past year, the intensity of attacks on port infrastructure has increased significantly: while 36 attacks were recorded in 2024, their number rose to 96 in 2025. In 2025 alone, 325 port infrastructure facilities were damaged.
