The authorities are seeking to minimise the aftermath of the strikes and maintain control over the situation in the city.
Background:
- From the evening of 14 January, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 82 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered models), Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones. A total of 61 drones were downed, though there were also hits.
- The Security Service of Ukraine has gathered the necessary evidence confirming that Russia's strikes on the energy sector constitute a consistent Kremlin policy aimed at destroying the Ukrainian people and bear the hallmarks of crimes against humanity.
