A major critical energy infrastructure facility has been destroyed in the city of Kharkiv as a result of a Russian attack.
Source: Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov
Details: Terekhov said that an emergency response headquarters is operating around the clock, with emergency services and specialist personnel working at the scene.
The authorities are seeking to minimise the aftermath of the strikes and maintain control over the situation in the city.
Background:
- From the evening of 14 January, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 82 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered models), Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones. A total of 61 drones were downed, though there were also hits.
- The Security Service of Ukraine has gathered the necessary evidence confirming that Russia's strikes on the energy sector constitute a consistent Kremlin policy aimed at destroying the Ukrainian people and bear the hallmarks of crimes against humanity.
