Kyiv convenes energy-focused Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting, says foreign minister

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has announced that Kyiv, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy, is convening an energy-focused meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) on the instructions of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Details: At the meeting, Kyiv is seeking to secure additional contributions and specific commitments from its allies to support its energy sector.

Sybiha said Ukraine also awaits new bilateral energy aid packages from its partners in the near future. "There will be news on this matter tomorrow," he added.

Background:

• Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that all oblast military administrations and Kyiv City Military Administration have been ordered to reduce electricity consumption within 24 hours.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Ukrainian government to adopt all necessary decisions immediately to simplify and increase electricity imports by both state-owned companies and the private sector.
