A survey has shown that 77% of Ukrainians believe that Russia is advancing slowly on the battlefield and suffering heavy losses, while Ukraine is maintaining its ability to continue fighting.

Details: Survey respondents were asked to choose between two statements about the situation on the front: one more optimistic and one more pessimistic.

A total of 77% of respondents believe that Russia, although it is making advances, is doing so slowly and with heavy losses, while Ukraine remains capable of sustaining effective resistance.

Meanwhile, 12% of respondents expressed a more pessimistic view, believing that Russia is achieving significant successes and that Ukraine's resistance is hopeless. Another 11% said they were unable to decide.

For reference: The survey was conducted via telephone interviews (CATI) using a random sample of mobile phone numbers across all parts of Ukraine under government control. A total of 601 respondents aged 18 or older participated in the study. The sample did not include residents of territories temporarily not under the control of the Ukrainian government (although some respondents were internally displaced persons who had moved from occupied territories), and the survey was not conducted among citizens who left abroad after 24 February 2022.

Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.3) did not exceed 5.3% for indicators close to 50%, 4.6% for indicators close to 25%, 3.2% for indicators close to 10% and 2.4% for indicators close to 5%.

KMIS notes that additional systematic deviations are possible in wartime conditions. However, the institute considers the results representative and believes they allow a reliable assessment of public sentiment.
