STANAG 4569 is a NATO standard that defines levels of protection for armoured vehicles against bullets, fragments and mine/IED explosions. In total, there are six levels of such protection.

MAC HUB notes that the new vehicle has ballistic protection at level PZSA-6 (the Ukrainian standard for bullet protection), with armour thickness of up to 16 mm.

The manufacturer also states that the vehicle can withstand the detonation of up to 10 kg of explosive under a wheel and under the hull, which, according to the declared specifications, corresponds to mine protection levels 4a and 4b of the NATO STANAG 4569 standard.

MAC HUB adds that the vehicle has already completed a full cycle of tests and is ready to perform combat missions.

The MAC OWL features a monocoque armoured hull. Its weight is around 15 tonnes, with a payload capacity of up to 2 tonnes. The vehicle is designed for a crew of two and can carry between six and eight dismounted troops, depending on the configuration.

The vehicle is equipped with a 450 hp engine and an automatic six-speed transmission, providing a range of up to 700 km. All-wheel drive (4×4) and a hydropneumatic independent suspension allow it to operate off-road.

The MAC OWL armoured vehicle can be fitted with either a remotely operated or manual turret, mounting 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns, including the Browning M2, PKM/PKT, as well as automatic grenade launchers such as the MK-19.

In a comment to Militarnyi, the manufacturer specified that it has a strategic agreement with South Africa's Paramount Group, which is known for its heavily armoured Mbombe 4 vehicles.

The company stresses that the MAC OWL is not an adapted copy of the Mbombe 4, but a separate vehicle created on the basis of proven platforms with deep structural modifications.

"The MAC OWL project, which was worked on for a year and a half, has been refined and reworked to suit the realities of our war by MAC HUB, a company that has the relevant expertise and team in its arsenal," the company told the outlet.
