Germany allocates €60 million for Ukraine's energy sector

Germany has announced the allocation of €60 million for winter and energy support for Ukraine.

Details: The new energy assistance from Germany will be directed towards strengthening heating and heat supply systems, Sybiha said.
"This assistance will help keep our people warm and protected by strengthening heating and heat supply systems – with a particular focus on frontline regions. We value Germany's steadfast solidarity," Sybiha wrote.
Background:
- Against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that Kyiv, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy, is convening an energy-focused meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format).
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine expects "rapid deliveries of what partners have available" from this Ramstein meeting.
- Czechia has already offered its assistance in the energy sector.
- Recently, Zelenskyy declared a state of emergency in Ukraine's energy sector. A coordination headquarters will also be established in Kyiv to operate on a permanent basis.
