The US side is represented in the talks by US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll.
Background:
- It was reported that the purpose of the Ukrainian team's visit to Florida is to finalise arrangements with American partners on security guarantees and Ukraine's economic prosperity.
- Next week, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States will travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they are expected to meet and finalise a "prosperity" agreement.
- The "prosperity" agreement envisages attracting US$800 billion for Ukraine's reconstruction over a 10-year period. It is believed that the agreement will open the way for a range of loans, grants and investment opportunities from private companies to provide funding.
- The Ukrainian government previously stated that the US$800 billion agreement for Ukraine is agreed with the EU and does not contradict accession conditions.
