Ukrainian delegation arrives in US for talks on peace deal

A Ukrainian delegation consisting of Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC), Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President's Office, and Davyd Arakhamiia, leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, has arrived in the United States for a meeting with the US negotiation team.

The US will be represented by President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll.

- The purpose of the Ukrainian team's visit to Florida is reportedly to finalise arrangements with the US on security guarantees and Ukraine's economic prosperity.
- Next week, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States will travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they are expected to meet and finalise a prosperity agreement.
- The prosperity plan aims to attract US$800 billion for Ukraine's reconstruction over a 10-year period. The agreement is expected to open the way for a range of loans, grants and investment opportunities from private companies.
- The Ukrainian government has stated that the US$800 billion agreement for Ukraine has been agreed with the EU and does not conflict with the conditions for EU accession.
