Lithuania pledges additional energy support for Ukraine

Lithuania's government is planning to make a decision in the coming days to provide Ukraine with additional energy assistance, specifically power generation equipment, to help the country address energy supply issues in Kyiv and the most critical oblasts.
Source: Ukraine's Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal on social media
Details: Shmyhal reported that he had held a substantive phone call with Lithuania's Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.
Quote: "I expressed my gratitude for the assistance Lithuania has provided to Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, we have received sets of equipment for thermal power plants and nuclear power plants, which has helped carry out emergency repairs in several Ukrainian regions.
In addition, we have received more than 2,000 solar panels, along with various pieces of equipment and machinery, from our Lithuanian friends. Lithuania has contributed €5.7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund."
More details: Shmyhal briefed Vaičiūnas on the situation in Ukraine's energy sector and said there is no power plant in the country that has not been hit by Russian strikes. Ukrainian energy workers continue round-the-clock repairs to restore electricity for consumers.
Background:
- Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that Kyiv, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy, is convening an energy-focused meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) on the instructions of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
- Ukraine and the United Nations will ask donor countries to provide additional funding for humanitarian assistance in response to the crisis caused by Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
