Trump still plans to meet Zelenskyy in Davos, but no breakthrough expected – Axios

US President Donald Trump plans to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Source: Axios, citing an unnamed US official, as reported by European Pravda
Details: According to the source, Trump plans to hold talks with Zelenskyy as well as with several European leaders.
However, the official cautioned that no major breakthroughs should be expected from these meetings.
The report noted that developments around Greenland have pushed Ukraine-related issues, including efforts to reach a shared understanding between the US, Ukraine and European countries on security guarantees and post-war reconstruction, into the background at Davos.
Previously: A Ukrainian official said that the signing of a prosperity agreement by Trump and Zelenskyy has been cancelled.
A US official, however, denied that any date had ever been set, saying the plan requires further work.
Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to meet Kirill Dmitriev, a special envoy of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, in Davos on Tuesday 20 January to discuss Ukraine.
Background:
- It was reported earlier that the White House had not yet scheduled a meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy at the World Economic Forum.
- Trump previously said he would meet Zelenskyy in Davos if the Ukrainian president was there, but stressed that no specific arrangements had been made.
