Self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has signed a document confirming that Belarus will join the "Board of Peace" being established by US President Donald Trump and said that no US$1 billion contribution is required.

Details: The document notes that the Board's charter will be implemented following the planned procedure, "set out in the letter by the US president".

Responding to questions about the actual conditions for joining the "Board of Peace" and rumours that a contribution of US$1 billion is required, Lukashenko said that "these sick people have gone mad again". "You just need to read the document. No money is required," he added.

  • Bloomberg reported earlier that French President Emmanuel Macron declined an invitation from Trump to join the "Board of Peace" he is establishing.
