Details: Before signing the documents, Trump said he is confident that "just about every country wants to be a part of it".
Fewer than 20 countries attended the ceremony, and none of the US's usual Western European allies were present.
Most countries represented on stage in Davos were from the Middle East and South America. Participants included the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina and Paraguay.
From the European Union, only the prime ministers of Hungary and Bulgaria attended. Four European countries outside the EU were also represented: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Kosovo.
Quote: "In this group, I like every single one of them. Can you believe it? Usually I have two or three I can't stand. I don't see any of those here."
More details: According to Trump's plans, the "Board of Peace for Gaza" is to be established under the broader umbrella of the "Board of Peace".
Background:
- A draft charter of the "Board of Peace" seen by Reuters says that Trump is to chair the council for life, even if he is no longer US president.
- On 20 January, self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko became the first world leader to sign an official confirmation that his country would accept Trump's invitation to join the "Board of Peace".
- Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia is willing to contribute US$1 billion from Russian assets frozen in the US to Trump's "Board of Peace for Gaza".
