Quote: "Today was the hardest day for Ukraine's energy system since the blackout in November 2022. A combination of factors caused by constant attacks, namely damage to generation equipment, destroyed distribution networks and transformers and ongoing enemy attacks across the entire grid.
The situation is extremely difficult. Power companies are forced to continue applying emergency outages."
Details: Shmyhal said that Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator, had been forced to introduce special emergency outage schedules to preserve the integrity of the power system. The most difficult situation is in the city of Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Shmyhal added that 165 repair teams worked during the day to restore heating to homes in Kyiv, with 83 teams taking over the night shift.
He also condemned cases of physical aggression against repair crews.
Quote: "One more thing. We understand how hard it is for people – the fatigue and stress from constant terrorist attacks are taking their toll. However, physical aggression against repair workers is unacceptable: these people are working in the cold around the clock, at the limit of their strength. They are real heroes. They are doing everything possible to restore electricity and heat as quickly as possible."
