Zelenskyy discusses energy sector and peace talks with Lithuanian president

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed support for Ukraine's energy system during a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda in Vilnius.

Details: Zelenskyy briefed Nausėda on the state of Ukraine's energy system after Russian attacks and spoke about Ukraine's needs for energy resilience and strengthening air defence.
The president thanked Lithuania for its decision to hand over almost one hundred generators to Ukrainian cities and hromadas. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
The leaders also discussed military cooperation between the two countries, joint defence projects and cooperation within the PURL and SAFE programmes. They also discussed Lithuania's proposal to open an arms export platform in Vilnius.
Other topics of the meeting included diplomatic work and the results of meetings with Americans and Russians in Abu Dhabi.
"I shared the latest details of diplomatic efforts toward peace, including the meetings in Abu Dhabi involving the Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations. Ukraine, as always, is doing everything possible on its part to bring the war to an end," Zelenskyy wrote.

- As reported, the president of Ukraine arrived in Vilnius to take part in events marking the anniversary of the January Uprising.
- Zelenskyy is expected to meet Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Lithuania. This will be the presidents' second meeting.
- Zelenskyy visited Poland on 19 December, where he met Nawrocki. The Polish president then said that the issue of national memory had been among the key topics during the talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Poland in Warsaw and that Poland hoped they would be resolved quickly.
