The state-run rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) has opened "invincibility carriages" for the first time in the Polish city of Chełm, where passengers have been forced to wait outdoors for trains to Ukraine due to ongoing station renovations. Details: Over a hundred passengers visited the invincibility carriages in Chełm on the first day.

Heated carriages have been installed for passengers at Chełm station, which handles five pairs of passenger trains from Ukraine. One carriage features a play area for children, separate spaces for feeding and changing babies, as well as colouring books and drawing kits. The invincibility carriages also provide charging points for devices, and visitors are offered hot tea.

In a second carriage, passengers can view part of the photo collection by Howard Buffett, previously part of the Art Train, a one-of-a-kind train with gallery spaces, created to bring art to all corners of Ukraine. The carriages are located on platform three.

Due to ongoing station renovations in Chełm since 2024, passengers have had to wait for trains to Ukraine outdoors, including during the winter months. Trains to Chełm arrive from Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kyiv. The station also serves as a transfer hub for connections to Berlin, Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań and other destinations. Approximately 3,000 passengers pass through the station daily.
