Zelenskyy: 926 buildings still without heating in Kyiv

Over 900 multi-storey residential buildings in Kyiv remain without heating as of the morning of 27 January following Russia's attack on the night of 23-24 January.

Quote: "As of this morning, 926 buildings in several districts on the left bank of the capital are still without heating."

Details: Zelenskyy added that the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are bringing in additional generators to address the issue.

"Reserves from across Ukraine have been deployed to support the capital," Zelenskyy noted.

Background:

  • On the night of 23-24 January, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Kyiv, using strike drones and ballistic missiles. At least one person was reported killed and three were seriously injured.
  • Half of Kyiv's high-rise buildings (about 6,000) were left without heat after the attack.
  • As of the evening of 24 January, 3,300 high-rise buildings in Kyiv remained without heat.
  • On 26 January, more than 1,200 apartment buildings in the capital were without heat.
