Ukraine receives 76 emergency generators from EU

A shipment of 76 emergency generators from the EU's strategic reserves arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday 27 January to help restore electricity supply in Ukrainian towns and villages.

Details: The shipment is an immediate EU assistance for urgent needs and part of the union's ongoing support for Ukraine's energy resilience.
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová said she is pleased to be able to "demonstrate concrete assistance that the European Union is providing to Ukraine".
Quote: "This is only a small part of the equipment we are transferring to Ukraine. Another part is still at customs."
More details: Mathernová said that the delivery is part of the 447 generators previously announced by the European Commission amid exceptionally low temperatures in Ukraine in January. The total value of the generators is €3.7 million.
Background: Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Monday 26 January that the Ukrainian capital has received 130 generators of various capacities from Poland.
