Germany delivers energy aid to Kyiv – photos
Germany has handed over two cogeneration units to the city of Kyiv to help meet its needs.

Details: The assistance was provided under an emergency energy support package for Ukraine funded by Germany, which was recently increased to €120 million.
Heiko Thoms, Germany's ambassador to Ukraine, handed over the first two combined heat and power units for Kyiv to Ukraine's Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko on 28 January. The units are expected to supply heat and electricity to 86,000 Kyiv residents.
A further 42 cogeneration units, 76 modular boiler houses and other energy equipment are to be delivered to Ukraine as quickly as possible.
Quote from Thoms: "Decentralised energy supply is a key factor in resilience. Germany is firmly committed to strengthening Ukraine's resilience in every possible way. These two units are just one element of Germany's substantial energy support for Ukraine. Many more steps will follow."
Background:
- On 28 January, Thoms announced that Germany will soon deliver 33 mobile combined heat and power plants to Ukraine.
- A shipment of 76 emergency generators from the EU's strategic reserves arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday 27 January to help restore electricity supply in Ukrainian towns and villages.
- Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Monday 26 January that the Ukrainian capital has received 130 generators of various capacities from Poland.
