Ukraine receives 1 GW of energy equipment from partners

Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, has announced that the country has received over 700 units of energy equipment from international partners, with a combined capacity of around one gigawatt.

Details: Kuleba said that the boilers, cogeneration units and high-capacity mobile generators delivered provide generation equivalent to one unit of the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant. Over 100 of these units arrived in Ukraine just in the past week.
Assistance came from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Estonia, Italy, Canada, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the UK, the US, Türkiye, France, Czechia, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
Quote: "Ukraine needs additional capacity to ensure stable operation of water treatment facilities, heating and water supply. We are creating a national reserve of mobile energy equipment. This will allow us to maintain essential services for people during repair work, which is vital in winter."
Details: The government has already allocated 2.6 billion hryvnias (around US$60.2 million) to form a 130-megawatt reserve. However, Kuleba noted that Ukraine's real needs are much greater, and the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories will continue to seek support from international partners.
Background: On 28 January, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced the launch of the SvitloDim programme, designed to support apartment buildings with their own autonomous power supply during prolonged outages.
