Monitoring groups have also recorded drone activity along Sumy-bound rail routes, prompting train drivers to make precautionary stops near shelters when danger arises. Train services continue to operate.

Background:

  • A monitoring team and dispatchers from Ukrzaliznytsia have introduced restrictions on train services between the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia due to attacks on railway infrastructure and the detection of Russian UAVs near the routes.
  • A passenger train travelling through Kharkiv Oblast on the Barvinkove-Lviv-Chop route was hit in a Russian Shahed drone attack on 27 January.
