Details: The poll shows that 52% of respondents personally consider it totally unacceptable to hand over the whole of Donbas under Russian control in exchange for security guarantees. Nevertheless, 40% are ready to accept such a concession (although most of them admit that this would be a difficult condition). Another 7% were unable to make up their minds.

The sociologists also noted that over the last two weeks of January, despite large-scale attacks and problems with electricity and heating in Ukraine, support for such a peace condition had not increased.

Among Kyiv residents, 59% consider giving up Donbas totally unacceptable, while 31% are ready to accept it. In the west of the country, 57% totally reject it and 38% are ready to accept it; 49% and 42% in the centre and north; 49% and 44% in the south; and 50% and 39% in the east.

The survey was conducted from 23 to 29 January using telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers across all regions of Ukraine except the occupied territories. A total of 1,003 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over were surveyed.

The statistical margin of error does not exceed 5.8%.
