Quote: "Symbolic and cynical at the same time: aggressor state strikes a place of memory about the struggle against aggression of the 20th century, repeating crimes already in the 21st century.

Relevant services are working at the scene – museum personnel, technical services and police. They are inspecting territory, recording damage and making an initial assessment of losses. After inspection is completed, the scope of recovery work will be known."

Details: Berezhna also said that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed more than 1,680 cultural heritage sites and thousands of cultural infrastructure facilities.

She added that Ukraine, together with partners, is developing the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund as an international tool for restoration and protection of heritage.

The museum continues to operate.
