Details: Shmyhal also reviewed the protection at a facility damaged in the attack.

"Thanks to protective measures, the main equipment has been preserved. We discussed the urgent needs of Kharkiv's power engineers. I have instructed that the necessary equipment be transferred from the Energy Ministry's hub for rapid repairs," he said.

Background:

  • On the night of 2-3 February, Russia carried out its heaviest attack on Ukraine's energy sector since the start of the year.
  • Eight Ukrainian oblasts came under attack.
  • Large-scale attacks on Kharkiv and Kharkiv Oblast caused a local-level man-made emergency: Kharkiv's combined heat and power plant No. 5 and the Kharkivska and Zaliutyne electrical substations were damaged.
