Details: The total capacity of the batch is 1.6 MW and its value is more than €417,000.
Quote: "The equipment is already being delivered to the oblasts that need backup power the most due to the damage to the energy infrastructure by Russian strikes."
More details: Kuleba said the generators will go to the cities of Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Lviv. Priority will be given to hospitals, maternity wards, schools, kindergartens and other social facilities.
Quote: "Enemy attacks on the energy sector and utility infrastructure remain of a systematic nature. Our response to Russia's barbaric actions is distributed generation and backup solutions that allow hromadas to operate, treat patients, teach and provide basic services even in crisis conditions." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
Background:
- Sweden's government announced an energy support package for Ukraine for SEK 1 billion (almost €94 million). This support will help Ukraine procure a range of energy equipment, including power units, heat blowers and spare parts for repairing damaged facilities.
- Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a shipment of 177 generators arrived in the capital from the European Union on 5 February.
- France has set to allocate a further €70 million to support projects in Ukraine under the Fund for Critical Infrastructure and Priority Economic Sectors of Ukraine.
- In late January, Poland transferred 379 generators of varying capacity to Ukraine.
