Details: On the morning of 12 February, the defence ministers of NATO member states will meet for a session of the North Atlantic Council, followed by an informal Ukraine-NATO Council meeting which Mykhailo Fedorov, who was appointed defence minister last month, will attend.
In the afternoon, there will be a two-hour meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) to focus on military support for Ukraine. Afterwards, Fedorov will hold a press conference alongside the defence ministers of Germany and the UK and the NATO secretary general.
The previous Ramstein meeting, which Denys Shmyhal attended as Ukraine's defence minister, took place in December.
Background:
- In early February it was reported that Fedorov had held a coordination call with the NATO secretary general and the defence ministers of the UK and Germany ahead of the next Ramstein-format meeting.
- Fedorov said they had discussed key priorities for supporting Ukraine.
- Media reports say US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will skip the NATO ministerial meeting on 12 February.
