Nearly 2,600 apartment blocks in the city of Kyiv have been left without heating due to a large-scale Russian attack on the night of 11-12 February.
Source: Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko
Details: Klitschko said high-rise residential buildings have been affected on both the left and right banks of Kyiv, particularly in the Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi and Solomianskyi districts.
Utility services have begun work to restore the heat supply.
Background:
- The Darnytsia combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kyiv sustained critical damage in Russia's 3 February attack, and it will take at least two months to repair its systems and equipment, provided there are no further devastating Russian strikes.
- Specialised personnel have examined the extent of the damage and compiled a list of over 1,100 high-rise buildings that will remain without heating until the plant is fully rebuilt.
