Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on member states of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) to urgently deliver PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.

Details: Fedorov briefed NATO allies on Ukraine's critical need for missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
Quote: "Today one of the largest ballistic strikes was carried out against Ukraine… The most effective way to counter these missiles is PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems. We critically need this equipment because the Russians are attempting to destroy our country's infrastructure."
Details: Fedorov emphasised that air defence is a key priority for Ukraine.
"I urge partners to provide PAC-3 missiles from their stockpiles to protect our infrastructure during the winter," he said.
Fedorov also called for strengthened cooperation through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, "as it is working very well and we are receiving critically important components".
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had grounds for his harsh criticism of Europe at Davos after a lack of funding led to a shortage of air defence missiles. He said that the reason for the missile shortage was a lack of funding to purchase PAC-3 anti-missile systems, which are capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, from the US.
- NATO insists there has been no delay in the supply of Patriot missiles, contrary to Zelenskyy's remarks.
- Earlier, Alona Hetmanchuk, Ukraine's ambassador to NATO, listed six countries that have provided Ukraine with the most support under PURL.
