US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he believes he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Munich Security Conference, which runs from 13 to 15 February.

Details: Commenting on Russia's relentless strikes on Ukraine, Rubio called them "terrible" and stressed the need to end the war as soon as possible.

Quote from Rubio: "It's a war. That's why we want the war to end. People are suffering. It's the coldest time of year. It's unimaginable, the suffering. That's the problem with wars. That's why wars are bad, and that's why we worked so hard for over a year now to try to bring this one to an end."

  • Zelenskyy will lead the Ukrainian delegation at the 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC), which will take place on 13-15 February.
  • It was reported earlier that Zelenskyy will meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Munich.
  • The Munich Security Conference also announced that the largest US delegation in history, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will attend the event.
  • Guests at this year's conference will include the presidents of France, Czechia, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia and Colombia, as well as the prime ministers of Canada, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Estonia. Overall, representatives from more than 115 countries will take part in the event, including around 60 heads of state and government.
  • It was also reported that a special Ukraine House will open for the first time as part of this year's Munich Security Conference.
