US ambassador to NATO believes China could stop Russia's war in Ukraine with one call

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker has said that China is providing decisive support to Russia's aggression against Ukraine and could end the war with a single phone call.

Quote from Whitaker: "China could call Vladimir Putin and end this war tomorrow and cut off his dual-purpose technologies that they're selling."
Details: Whitaker added that Beijing could also stop its purchases of Russian oil and gas.
Quote from Whitaker: "You know, this war is being completely enabled by China."
Details: Bloomberg reported that China and Russia have forged even closer ties since the beginning of the full-scale war, with Moscow relying on Beijing for the supply of critical parts and components for drones and other military equipment.
China has also once again become the largest buyer of Russian crude oil, despite increasing international pressure on Moscow's vital oil trade.
Tracking data shows that Chinese ports unloaded 1.65 million barrels of oil per day in January, which is the highest level since March 2024 and the second-largest monthly volume since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Despite this, Beijing has repeatedly said it wants to play a "constructive" role in resolving the war. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha in Munich this week and offered humanitarian assistance to the country as it continues to defend itself against Russian attacks.
