Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine is ready to hold elections subject to a two-month ceasefire and has suggested to guarantee a ceasefire for Russia so they could hold elections too.

Quote: "I'm very honest. Give us two months of ceasefire [and] we will go to elections. That's it.

Give us ceasefire, give us security, infrastructure. Maybe not two months but we need a lot of days to prepare. Then give us the possibility [for] our soldiers to vote… How they can.. I mean, how they can defend our lives, our country and at the same moment vote. This is something difficult."

Details: Zelenskyy said comparisons with elections in other countries during wartime are irrelevant because of the scale of threats.

Quote: "So give us ceasefire. President Trump can do this. Push Putin, make ceasefire then our parliament will change the law and we will go to elections – if they need them. If Americans need elections in Ukraine and if Russians need elections in Ukraine, we are open for this."

More details: Zelenskyy added that Ukraine could also "give ceasefire for Russians if they will do elections in Russia".
