Kim Jong Un hands apartments to families of North Korean soldiers killed in Russia's war against Ukraine – photos

Construction has been completed on Saebyeol Street in Pyongyang, intended for relatives of soldiers who were killed in Russia's war against Ukraine. Leader Kim Jong Un has handed over the apartment deeds and advised families to "overcome their sadness as quickly as possible and enjoy life in the capital."

Details: According to the release, the street features both high-rise and low-rise residential buildings, designed to "ensure a happy life" for the families of the fallen soldiers.

At the completion ceremony on 15 February, Kim Jong Un described Saebyeol Street as "an honour for a generation" and "a point of pride for Pyongyang", wishing that "happiness and joy always prevail" for the families living there.

The street opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, loud cheers, ceremonial salutes, balloons decorated with a sparkling red star and a large concert.

Background: Recently, South Korean intelligence reported that around 6,000 North Korean soldiers had been killed or wounded while fighting on Russia's side in its war against Ukraine.
