Ukraine is systematically scaling up the use of ground robotic systems on the front. In January 2026 alone, more than 7,000 missions involving ground drones were carried out; the vast majority of them were logistics tasks on the front line.

Quote: "Just six months ago, the evacuation of the wounded using ground robotic systems was an isolated occurrence. Today, robots regularly enter high-risk zones: they deliver ammunition, provide logistics and evacuate the wounded where the presence of people creates additional danger."

Details: Fedorov said that the use of ground robotic systems on the battlefield is no longer a series of individual cases but daily practice for units. He also announced the goal of maximally shifting frontline logistics to ground drones. The minister noted that this would help reduce risks for servicemen and increase unit effectiveness.

Quote: "This year we will increase production, procurement volumes of ground robotic systems and improve communication and control systems. We will also enable military units to complete their systems – purchasing the necessary modules and components for specific combat tasks."

Details: Fedorov also published a video showing an evacuation mission by a rifle unit of the 17th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade. A wounded serviceman was evacuated from a dangerous area using a ground robotic system.
