Quote: "For more than two years, Ukrposhta remained the only company that continued operating in the town of Orikhiv and the village of Preobrazhenka of the Polohy hromada in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Today we have made the difficult decision to close these branches." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: Smilianskyi added that in what was once a town of 20,000 residents, just over 800 people remain in Orikhiv, not counting service members.

Over the past week, Ukrposhta lost a vehicle in the area of the settlements, and the local administration lost another while trying to assist.

"Meanwhile, the vast majority of pensions and Winter Support payments have already been delivered, and we will continue serving residents of Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka in the village of Tavriiske," Smilianskyi said. [Winter Support is a Ukrainian government assistance programme providing additional financial aid during the winter – ed.]
