Switzerland sends energy equipment to Ukraine

Switzerland has launched an operation to deliver energy equipment to help restore Ukraine's energy system. The first lorries carrying technical assistance are already en route to Ukraine.

Details: The delivery is part of a comprehensive support package approved by the Swiss Federal Council.

Background:
- Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported earlier that Ukraine reached agreements with its partners on obtaining decommissioned equipment from six European combined heat and power plants and thermal power plants for use at Ukrainian facilities.
- The European Commission said EU energy assistance has helped provide electricity to around nine million Ukrainians, equivalent to the population of Austria.
