Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers it possible to make the next meeting with representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States "not an empty one".

Quote: "We continue to work every day specifically to ensure that the next round of negotiations can deliver results for Ukraine and results for peace. Ukraine will certainly do everything necessary for this and will certainly not be an obstacle to peace.
Last time in Geneva, the American side clearly saw that it is precisely the Russians who are the reason for the absence of truly meaningful results. And the next meeting must not be empty; this is possible."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that on Saturday, he discussed certain aspects of the preparation for the negotiations with Rustem Umierov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council and head of the Ukrainian delegation.
"My meetings with European partners are also already scheduled for next week. We will coordinate in detail to ensure that Europe is involved in all processes and only grows stronger. I have also instructed Rustem to work more closely with our friends in the Middle East and in Türkiye so that they also feel involved and can provide greater assistance," Zelenskyy added.
Previously: On 20 February, Zelenskyy announced an agreement on a new round of negotiations in a trilateral format on ending the war in Ukraine within the next 10 days.
Background:
- On the morning of 18 February, Rustem Umierov said that the second day of Ukraine-US-Russia talks on resolving Russia's war against Ukraine had begun in Geneva.
- Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation, said later that the 18 February round of trilateral talks in Geneva on Russia's war against Ukraine had wrapped up. He said the talks lasted about two hours and were difficult but business-like.
- Zelenskyy said that during the talks, the parties had agreed that monitoring of compliance with a ceasefire would be carried out with the participation of the United States.
- He later added that the political issues surrounding possible compromises and the essential meeting between the two leaders were not sufficiently worked through at the trilateral Ukraine-US-Russia negotiations.
