Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, has marked the fourth year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine by once again issuing nuclear threats against Kyiv and Europe.

Details: On the morning of 24 February, Russian Kremlin-aligned news agencies and propagandists simultaneously circulated a statement by Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service claiming that the United Kingdom and France were preparing to provide Kyiv with a nuclear weapon. Russian reports claimed that the transfer would be disguised as Ukraine's own nuclear development.

The claim was quickly commented on in the Kremlin. In particular, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the information was supposedly "potentially extremely dangerous" and that it would be "taken into account during negotiations".

Medvedev went further and again issued nuclear threats.

He said that under such a scenario Russia would have to use "any weapons, including non-strategic nuclear weapons, against targets in Ukraine".

"And, if necessary, against the supplier countries, which would become participants in a nuclear conflict with Russia," Medvedev said.
