Zelenskyy promotes Azov commander Prokopenko to brigadier general

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the rank of brigadier general to Denys "Redis" Prokopenko, Commander of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Quote: "Colonel Denys Hennadiiovych Prokopenko, commander of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine, shall receive the military rank of brigadier general."

Background:

• The National Guard of Ukraine has created two corps, headed by Colonel Denys "Redis" Prokopenko, Commander of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade Azov, and Colonel Ihor "Kornet" Obolenskyi, Commander of the 13th Operational Brigade Khartia.
• In 2025, Denys Prokopenko was included in the UP100 list of Ukrainians shaping Ukraine's independence and future.
