Slovakia and Hungary continue supplying electricity to Ukraine despite threats

Commercial electricity imports to Ukraine from Slovakia and Hungary are continuing despite political statements by representatives of their governments.

Details: Since the beginning of February, Ukraine has imported 1.1 million MWh of electricity, of which 49% came from Hungary and 18% from Slovakia.

Imports have remained at a stable level throughout the month.
Background:
- Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico had stated that Slovakia would halt emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine from 23 February.
- Hungary also considered suspending exports of electricity and natural gas to Ukraine unless supplies of Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline were restored.
