Police Captain Oleksii Kryvenko killed in Russian airstrike on Druzhkivka

It has emerged that Police Captain Oleksii Kryvenko was killed in a Russian airstrike on the city of Druzhkivka in Donetsk Oblast on 2 March.

Details: Kryvenko, 38, served as a senior district police officer in frontline Druzhkivka. He came under a Russian aerial bomb strike while carrying out his duties.

Kryvenko was a native of Druzhkivka and devoted more than 20 years to service in the internal affairs bodies. He worked in criminal investigations and an inquiry unit before joining a crime prevention unit in August 2025. Kryvenko documented the aftermath of Russian attacks and took part in evacuating civilians.

Quote from the National Police: "The police officer faithfully served Ukraine and helped people until his last breath. He paid the highest price to save his hometown.

He is survived by his parents, a brother, his wife and two sons: the elder is 10 years old, the younger is just one."

Background: On 2 March, Russian forces used first-person view drones and aerial bombs to attack Druzhkivka in Donetsk Oblast. Six people were killed and 14 were injured in the strikes.
